The bigger the bloom, the fewer you'll need.
If you want to stretch your floral budget, go big. When they're jumbo-sized flowers like dinner plate dahlia, you only need a few to create a lush and full, garden style look. I recommend totally embracing that softness that’s trending at the time of year. Take things up a notch with bold splashes of color and well placed greenery which renews a classic theme with something a bit more modern.
The best choice for flowers are local and in-season, always.
Yes, I said it. Always be e open to blooms of the season. That means that unless it's a spring wedding forget the tulips. These blooms are more affordable and fresher than out of season buds. The carbon foot print is lower, too. Your flowers don't have to be flown in from all over the world. You might have your heart set on a peony but look for a doppelgänger with the same feel and shape that'll make you just as happy.
Wedding dress is chosen first, then your bouquet.
The aesthetic of the dress' style will affect the flowers you choose. Seriously. You want the flowers to be a side-show and complement you, what's going on that day and what you are wearing. The flowers do not want to compete with all of that! The floral compositions should be an effortless accent that enhances the beauty of the day not out over shadow it. Here's what I am saying: you want to place a bouquet of tightly bound single color calla lilies with a modern, slim gown. Right? Picture that same gown with a wild, bright boho number and you can see something, is just not right.
